The Kerala Muslim Jamat has called for the bifurcation of Malappuram district to better serve its 4.7 million residents. Citing a need for equal facilities irrespective of caste or religion, the organization's president urged the state government to create a new district. This demand was raised during rallies preceding a statewide 'Kerala Yatra' led by Jamat leaders, which also condemned the Karnataka government's demolition drives in Bengaluru.
