
Alok Raj, a 1989-batch IPS officer, has been appointed the new chairman of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC). The appointment, effective January 1, 2026, is for five years or until he reaches 65. Raj, who previously served as DGP of Bihar and chairman-cum-CMD of Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation, retired from service on the same day as his new appointment.
