Complaints Filed Against West Bengal CEC Over Alleged Voter Roll Harassment

Seven complaints were filed against West Bengal's Chief Electoral Officer Gyanesh Kumar alleging harassment during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in South 24 Parganas. Trinamool Congress MLA Saokat Molla claimed about 33,000 names, mostly from the Muslim community, were recommended for deletion to disenfranchise voters. Molla accused the CEC of orchestrating a conspiracy targeting minority voters, while a BJP leader questioned the basis of these claims. Authorities are examining the complaints amid concerns over electoral roll revisions ahead of assembly polls.
