
An audit report by a medical committee from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in Indore linked 15 deaths to a diarrhoea outbreak caused by contaminated drinking water in Bhagirathpura. While the local administration confirmed six deaths, residents claimed up to 23 fatalities. Since December 29, over 440 patients were admitted, with new cases still reported. The Madhya Pradesh government has provided financial aid to affected families. The National Green Tribunal has taken suo motu cognisance of sewage contamination in water pipelines across several states, including Madhya Pradesh, seeking accountability and responses from authorities.
