The Kerala government plans to introduce a permanent, photo-embedded Nativity Card to replace the current nativity certificate, aiming to provide a legally valid document for proving residency and accessing state services. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated the card addresses difficulties people face in proving their identity. However, the BJP has criticized the move, calling it politically motivated and questioning its legality, alleging it could be seen as 'dangerous separatist politics' and a waste of public funds.
