The Indian Army has achieved over 90 percent indigenisation for its nearly 200 ammunition variants, significantly reducing import dependence. This strategic shift, supported by policy reforms and industry engagement, aims to build a resilient domestic supply chain for sustained combat endurance and long-term warfighting capability. Orders worth approximately Rs 26,000 crore have been placed with indigenous manufacturers in the past three years, fostering vendor diversification and supply resilience.
