Andaman Police Enhances Commando Unit with New Training Facilities

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police is enhancing its commando unit, currently comprising 121 commandos, by strengthening training infrastructure to improve operational readiness on land and sea. DGP HGS Dhaliwal inaugurated 10 new commando obstacles at the Police Training School in Prothrapur, enabling local training previously conducted on the mainland. The facilities aim to develop physical endurance, tactical skills, and preparedness for law enforcement and emergency situations. While no women commando unit exists yet, plans for future inclusion were mentioned.
