Punjab's AAP government will defy the Centre's directive to hold gram sabhas on Friday to educate the public about the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) scheme. The state plans to hold these sessions later, arguing the new law, which replaces MGNREGA and offers 125 days of employment, infringes on beneficiaries' rights. Punjab Congress also criticized the AAP government's performance on MGNREGA job targets. The state intends to present a resolution against the Centre's move in a special Vidhan Sabha session.
