BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai has threatened an intense protest if a maize procurement center is not established in Shiggaon soon. He stated that the state government must procure maize at the Minimum Support Price announced by the Union government, criticizing its focus on sugarcane growers while neglecting maize farmers. Bommai alleged that ethanol companies are exploiting farmers through middlemen, indicating the state government's protection of vested interests over farmers' financial distress.
