An investigation into the death of Congress worker Rajashekhar during clashes in Ballari, Karnataka, suggests the fatal bullet was fired from a gun belonging to a bodyguard of Congress MLA Nara Bharat Reddy. Forensic analysis of a bullet fragment recovered from the victim reportedly matches ammunition from firearms seized from the MLA's security personnel. Following the incident, Ballari SP Pavan Nejjur was suspended pending inquiry. FIRs have been registered against MLA Nara Bharat Reddy and his supporters based on a BJP complaint.
