Various organizations are demanding the immediate withdrawal of the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against farmers' leader M. Appala Raju and his unconditional release. They also seek the dismissal of alleged false cases against tribal residents of Imanuru village. Speakers at a roundtable accused the State government of suppressing those questioning land acquisitions and corporate interests, and misusing the PD Act against a leader defending farmers' rights. Legal challenges to Raju's detention are planned.
