According to a Financial Times report citing multiple Israeli intelligence sources, Israel spent years hacking Tehran's traffic camera network and infiltrating mobile phone systems to monitor Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his security detail. Nearly all traffic cameras in Tehran were allegedly compromised, with footage transmitted to servers in Israel. This surveillance, combined with AI analysis and mobile network disruptions, helped track Khamenei's movements and security patterns ahead of a targeted strike that killed him. The CIA reportedly also had human intelligence supporting the operation.
