Trinamool Congress (TMC) protests disrupted Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearings for electoral rolls in West Bengal's Hooghly district. TMC MLA Asit Mazumdar halted proceedings, demanding that Booth Level Agents (BLAs) be allowed to attend, citing instructions from party leader Abhishek Banerjee. The Election Commission (EC) maintains BLAs are not permitted to ensure transparency. After initially stopping hearings, Mazumdar allowed them to resume citing humanitarian grounds. A TMC delegation met the Chief Electoral Officer, who assured action and communication with Delhi regarding discrepancies and BLA-2 presence.
