Tripura Plans Four Elephant Passes at Mungiakami to Ensure Safe Movement

Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma announced plans to construct four 'elephant passes' at Mungiakami in Khowai district to facilitate safe elephant movement. This area, an elephant corridor at the Atharamura range foothills, saw two elephants killed by trains in 2024. The government is preparing a Detailed Project Report and may build more passes if needed. The forest department also aims to address man-animal conflicts by advocating protections in large projects and engaging with relevant ministries and companies.
