Visakhapatnam Wins $1 Million Bloomberg Mayors Challenge for Climate Initiative

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) won the Bloomberg Philanthropies 2025-2026 Mayors Challenge, receiving a $1 million grant and technical support. Its Vizag-Prajamukhi Urban Living Lab (V-PULL) initiative focuses on citizen-driven solutions to address floods, cyclones, and heatwaves through climate resilience and hyperlocal community engagement. GVMC was selected among 24 global winners from over 630 cities, having previously received seed funding to pilot local interventions and enhance disaster preparedness.
