A jazz ensemble, The Cookers, and a dance company, Doug Varone and Dancers, have canceled performances at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. following its renaming to include President Donald Trump's name. While The Cookers' statement cited jazz's history of freedom, their drummer indicated the name change influenced the decision. The Kennedy Center's president, Richard Grenell, called the cancellations a "political stunt" and criticized artists for boycotting the arts. This follows earlier leadership changes and other artist withdrawals.
