Tezpur University's Vice-Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh has been sent on leave following prolonged campus protests and allegations against him. The Education Ministry has formed a three-member inquiry committee, chaired by Manipur University's VC, to investigate the matter comprehensively. Professor Amrendra Kumar Das of IIT Guwahati has been appointed as pro-vice-chancellor to ensure administrative continuity during the probe. This action follows an earlier fact-finding report submitted to the Chancellor.
