A 57-year-old woman, Fulmala Pal, was found dead on railway tracks near Burdwan Junction on Thursday, days before a scheduled Election Commission of India (ECI) hearing. The Government Railway Police are treating the incident as a suicide, suggesting she was hit by a train. The Trinamul Congress (TMC) alleges the ECI's notice caused her death, protesting that the commission is harassing party workers. Local MLA Nishith Malik stated the woman could not cope with the mental stress from the notice.
