The Congress and the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) have announced an alliance for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections on January 15, 2026. Under the seat-sharing agreement, the VBA will contest 62 of the 227 seats, while Congress will field candidates in the remaining seats. Both parties stated the alliance is based on shared ideology and aims to counter the BJP's politics. This partnership comes as the Shiv Sena-UBT and Raj Thackeray's MNS have also formed an alliance for the same elections, a move criticized by Congress.
