Assam Constitutes 8th Pay Commission to Review Government Employee Salaries

The Assam government has established the 8th Pay Commission, led by former Additional Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Das, to review and recommend revisions to the salary structure, allowances, and service conditions of state employees. Excluding certain officers and technical posts, the commission aims to ensure equitable, performance-based, and fiscally sustainable pay reforms. It will also assess pensioners' emoluments and propose systems for dearness relief and pension revision. The report is expected within 18 months.
