Government Reports Rs 9,300 Crore Pending MGNREGS Dues to States in FY26

The government informed the Rajya Sabha that pending liabilities under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) stood at over Rs 9,300 crore in FY 2025-26, with Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka having the highest dues. Wages are directly credited to beneficiaries via direct benefit transfer. The Centre has cleared all pending liabilities up to FY 2024-25 except for West Bengal and released over Rs 78,000 crore in the current year for wages and other components.
