High Courts Seek Responses on Vice-Chancellor Appointment Challenges in Rajasthan and Punjab Universities

Two high courts in India have issued notices regarding petitions challenging recent vice-chancellor appointments at state universities. The Rajasthan High Court sought responses within three weeks on the appointment of Sammat Vyas at Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, citing alleged violations of University Grants Commission (UGC) norms. Similarly, the Punjab and Haryana High Court scheduled a hearing on May 26 for a petition contesting Jagdeep Singh's appointment at Punjabi University, alleging procedural flaws and questioning his eligibility under UGC regulations.
