Assam Imposes 15-Km Restriction on Polluting Units Near Jagiroad Semiconductor Plant Amid Compliance Concerns
The Assam government has imposed a 15-kilometre restriction on polluting industries, including cement plants, around the upcoming Ratan Tata Electronic City semiconductor facility in Jagiroad to protect sensitive production processes. Despite this directive, reports indicate that quarrying and stone-crushing units continue to operate within the restricted zone, some less than four kilometres from the plant. Authorities have been instructed to monitor and prevent such violations, coordinating with district administration and the Pollution Control Board to enforce the Cabinet decision.
