Darshan Singh Jamwal, a 1995-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Arunachal Pradesh, replacing Anand Mohan. The appointment has raised concerns among some civil rights and anti-dam activists due to Jamwal's previous actions as DGP of Ladakh. During his tenure there, he arrested climate activist Sonam Wangchuk under the National Security Act following violent protests in Ladakh. Activists in Arunachal, particularly those opposing the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project, have expressed apprehension about Jamwal's appointment.
