The Supreme Court of India has extended its stay on the November 20, 2025 order defining the Aravalli Hills and ranges, citing concerns over ambiguities that could undermine environmental protections. The court will form an expert committee comprising environmentalists, scientists, and mining specialists to conduct a comprehensive review of mining and related issues in the region. The committee will operate under the court's supervision. Authorities, including Rajasthan's government, have assured that illegal mining will be halted, as the court warned such activities could cause irreversible ecological damage.
