The Andaman and Nicobar Police have signed a Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC) with Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) for their Fast Interceptor Boats (FIBs). This MoU aims to ensure the full fitness and operational readiness of the boats, which are crucial for coastal surveillance and security in the archipelago. Previous maintenance attempts through open tendering were unsuccessful, leading to inefficient and costly piecemeal repairs. The new contract with GRSE, the original manufacturer, is expected to provide OEM-level support and reduce vessel downtime.
