West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the state's largest Mahakal Temple in Siliguri this week. The proposed shrine, which will include the state's largest Shiva idol and a convention center, follows Banerjee's earlier assurance to construct a larger temple after visiting the Mahakal Mandir in Darjeeling. The state government will provide land free of cost, and a trust board will oversee the project. This initiative is part of the state's broader religious infrastructure development plans.
