Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) in Jammu has reapplied to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for permission to run its MBBS course in the 2026-27 academic year after the NMC withdrew approval earlier, citing deficiencies in infrastructure, faculty, and clinical material. The institute has addressed these issues and paid the required fees, with an inspection expected in April-May. The initial withdrawal followed protests by groups opposing the admission of Muslim students, leading to the relocation of 50 students to other medical colleges in the Union Territory.
