A report by former Maharashtra DGP Rashmi Shukla alleges that ex-DGP Sanjay Pandey plotted to frame Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde in a 2016 extortion case. The report, submitted before Shukla's retirement, claims Pandey ordered a reinvestigation between 2021 and 2024 to implicate the leaders. Shukla recommended an FIR against Pandey and two other IPS officers. Fadnavis stated this shows a revenge motive during the previous MVA government. Pandey has declined to comment.
