The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) has improved its financial health by saving ₹50.05 crore in the current financial year through cost-cutting and restructuring measures. MC Commissioner Amit Kumar presented these findings, detailing savings from manpower rationalization (₹25 crore), operational restructuring (₹10 crore), and a new tendering system for dry waste processing (₹3.30 crore). The corporation also avoided ₹80 crore in installation costs for a biogas plant by partnering with IOCL. These efforts address a previous financial crunch that necessitated temporary use of pension funds.
