Mumbai is set to hold its Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections on January 15, 2026, after a nearly three-year gap due to legal disputes over ward formation and OBC reservations. The State Election Commission announced the schedule, with voting in all 227 wards and results on January 16. This election, along with others in 20 municipal corporations across Maharashtra, will restore elected representation for essential city services. The model code of conduct is now in effect.
