Delhi Police Detain JNU Students as Protest March to Education Ministry Is Stopped

On Thursday, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) members attempted a protest march from the campus to the Ministry of Education, demanding restoration of University Grants Commission regulations, enactment of the Rohith Vemula Act against caste discrimination, increased funding for public institutions, and the resignation of Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit over alleged casteist remarks. Delhi Police stopped the rally at the university gate, detaining several student leaders amid heightened security following earlier campus unrest and a related FIR against JNUSU office-bearers.
