
The Madhya Pradesh government approved 16 schemes worth Rs 27,746 crore for agriculture and allied sectors during its first 'Krishi Cabinet' meeting of 2026, declared as 'Kisan Kalyan Varsh' or Agriculture Welfare Year. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized the state's commitment to farmers' welfare, announcing plans for new markets and promoting processing of local produce in Barwani district. The Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana, protecting farmers from price losses, will include mustard alongside soybean. The cabinet also highlighted tribal welfare and regional development initiatives.
