Assam Cabinet Approves Record Orunodoi DBT and Empowers Autonomous Councils

The Assam Cabinet announced a record Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under the Orunodoi scheme, distributing Rs 9,000 each to approximately 39.7 lakh beneficiaries on March 10, totaling nearly Rs 3,600 crore. The government also approved decentralizing power by granting the Bodoland Territorial Council, Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao Autonomous Councils authority over preliminary tenders for projects under Rs 10 crore, aiming to expedite scheme implementation in these regions. Final approvals remain with the state government.
