Kuki-Zo Groups Demand Union Territory Status, Set Conditions for Manipur Government Participation

Thousands from the Kuki-Zo community in Manipur held rallies demanding a political settlement that includes Union Territory status with a legislature for their majority areas. The Kuki-Zo Council, insurgent groups, and MLAs resolved to join a new state government only after receiving a written, time-bound commitment from the Centre and state governments before the current assembly's term ends in 2027.
