The Gauhati High Court has issued notices to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government, and the DGP following multiple PILs alleging Sarma made hate speeches targeting the Muslim minority, particularly Bengali-origin Muslims referred to as 'Miyas'. Petitioners, including scholar Hiren Gohain and political parties, seek to restrain Sarma from such speeches and demand an independent probe, citing concerns over incitement and violation of constitutional duties. The court scheduled the next hearing for April 21.
