The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has stated that toll collection on the Kozhikode bypass, slated to begin January 1, is a trial run, not a permanent implementation. NHAI official Raj Lal Singh clarified that formal procedures, including public notification and police coordination, must be completed before actual toll collection commences. This clarification follows protests by the Congress party, which opposes toll collection due to incomplete construction of the bypass, with MP M.K. Raghavan calling the move 'illegal'.
