
The Supreme Court will hear cases on vehicular pollution in Delhi-NCR on March 12, focusing on measures to improve air quality. It has directed the ministries of Environment, Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Power to submit a joint proposal to phase out coal-based industries within the region, including identifying alternative fuels. The court also asked Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan to issue public notices to coal-based industries for feedback and to submit action plans. Additionally, it seeks responses on controlling construction dust and on banning new coal power plants within 300 km of Delhi.
