The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has assumed the sole authority for naming metro stations. A newly formed State Naming Authority (SNA), chaired by the CM, will now finalize all station names, including tentative ones proposed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in project reports. DMRC has been directed to submit lists for existing, non-operational stations and new proposals for final approval by the SNA, aiming for improved commuter clarity and local relevance.
