Andhra Pradesh Launches Autonomous Maritime Shipyard to Boost Defence Manufacturing

Andhra Pradesh is developing a 29.58-acre autonomous maritime shipyard and systems centre at Juvvaladinne fishing harbour in Nellore district, led by Sagar Defence Engineering. The project aims to advance indigenous defence manufacturing by producing unmanned surface vessels, autonomous underwater vehicles, and related maritime technologies. It is expected to generate over a thousand jobs and enhance coastal security, fisheries, and industrial skills. The centre will also utilize digital twin systems to optimize vessel design and testing, supporting both defence and commercial maritime applications.
