Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched digital platforms and mascots, Pragati and Vikas, for India's Census 2027, marking the first fully digital census conducted in two phases starting April 2026. Developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, four key digital tools include a web-based Houselisting Block Creator using satellite imagery, an offline mobile app for enumerators, a self-enumeration portal available in 16 languages, and a monitoring system for real-time progress tracking. The mascots symbolize equal participation of women and men in this nationwide exercise aimed at supporting India's development goals by 2047.
