Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu to Present 2026-27 Budget Amid Fiscal Challenges

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Finance Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will present the state's 2026-27 budget on March 20 in the Vidhan Sabha. The budget session's second phase begins March 18, with debates and voting scheduled through March 28. The budget faces challenges due to the 16th Finance Commission's recommendation to discontinue the Revenue Deficit Grant, potentially causing an annual loss of nearly Rs 10,000 crore. Sukhu has sought special assistance from the central government to address the fiscal shortfall.
