The Election Commission of India (ECI) will use its own team to identify housing complexes for setting up polling booths for the 2026 Assembly elections, after district authorities missed deadlines. This independent mechanism aims to ensure suitable locations are identified for voters in high-rise buildings. The ECI has also prepared contingency plans, including setting up temporary booths near complexes if owners' associations deny permission.
