Congress Criticizes Election Commission Ahead of Assembly Poll Schedule Announcement

Ahead of the Election Commission's announcement of assembly poll schedules for Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, and Puducherry, the Congress criticized the Commission, alleging it acts under the influence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, referred to as 'G2'. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has become 'Modi's Code of Campaigning' since 2014, marked by defamation and intimidation. The Election Commission will announce the poll dates as the terms of these assemblies end in May and June.
