The Delhi government plans to remodel 300 km of its drainage network in the next financial year as part of a five-year Drainage Master Plan unveiled in September. The plan aims to reduce waterlogging by 50% within three years and flood-related accidents by 30% in five years, with an estimated cost of Rs 57,362 crore. Projects in waterlogging hotspots like Azadpur, Mehrauli-Badarpur road, and North Delhi areas have been sanctioned, with tenders floated and funds approved. The plan considers existing infrastructure limitations to improve drainage efficiency systematically.
