Bengaluru and Mumbai Authorities Auction Properties to Recover Pending Property Taxes

Bengaluru and Mumbai civic bodies are auctioning properties to recover substantial pending property tax dues. Bengaluru's Greater Bengaluru Authority plans to auction 81 properties with dues totaling around ₹1.94 crore on March 6, after issuing multiple notices to defaulters. Meanwhile, Mumbai's BMC has initiated e-auctions for 34 high-value properties owing approximately ₹548.69 crore, following partial payments by some owners. Both authorities emphasize that collected taxes fund public services and infrastructure maintenance, and allow objections before auctions proceed.
