Union Minister Outlines Plans for Sustainable Urban Development and Temple Town Growth

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar highlighted India's urban transformation at the 18th Municipalika event, noting that urban areas now house about 40% of the population, expected to rise to 80 crore by 2047. He emphasized developing temple towns like Varanasi and Amritsar, tourism hubs such as Jaipur, and strengthening urban infrastructure through initiatives like the Urban Challenge Fund, Swachh Bharat Mission, and metro expansion. The government aims to create safe, smart, and sustainable cities contributing significantly to India's GDP and tax revenue.
