China Plans Policies to Support Childbirth and Address Ageing Population Challenges

China announced plans to build a "childbirth-friendly society" over the next five years to address its declining birth rate and rapidly ageing population. The government aims to improve employment, education, healthcare, and social security, while promoting positive attitudes toward marriage and childbearing. Policies will also focus on expanding elderly care services, especially in rural areas, and increasing retirement ages. By 2035, the population over 60 is expected to reach 400 million, posing challenges for pension systems and workforce participation.
