A parliamentary committee has recommended that Indian Railways refund partial fares to passengers holding RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) tickets who pay full charges but do not receive a confirmed berth and must share one. The Public Accounts Committee highlighted that charging full fare without providing a full berth is unjustified. The committee also urged a review of the Superfast train classification, noting many trains labeled Superfast run below the 55 kmph speed benchmark set in 2007, and called for updates to criteria and fare structures accordingly.
