Former EU digital chief Thierry Breton stated the EU must resist US influence on social media regulation, particularly after facing a US travel ban. Breton, who enforced the EU's Digital Services Act, criticized the US for imposing visa bans on him and others, viewing it as pressure to alter democratically passed laws protecting European users. He emphasized the need for the EU to stand firm against such external pressures, asserting that legislation backed by nearly 90% of EU lawmakers should not be changed to appease US tech platforms.
